Join the Central Texas Association of Environmental Professionals for our February Luncheon! 

Our guest speakers are Doug Booher and Michael Chavez

Doug Booher

Doug is the Environmental Affairs Division Director. He holds a BA in history from the University of Texas-San Antonio and an MS in Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Doug brings close to 32 years of experience in environmental science, planning, regulatory compliance, and project management. Over his career he has worked in the private sector, in multiple TxDOT offices, including the Austin District, the Texas Turnpike Authority Division and the Environmental Affairs Division, focused on navigating the environmental regulatory process to ensure timely project delivery.

Michael Chavez

Mike is the Deputy Director of the Environmental Affairs Division. He holds a BA in Anthropology and a MS in Applied Geography from Texas State (go Bobcats!). Mike brings close to 25 years of experience in environmental planning, documentation, regulatory compliance, and project management, both in the private sector and with the State. Over his career, he has worked as an archeologist and principal investigator, NEPA specialist, environmental task lead, TxDOT project delivery manager, and project manager and has been involved with a variety of projects such as Rethinking I-94 EIS in Minnesota, SH 45SW EIS in Austin, and US 281 EIS in San Antonio, among others. Mike has recently returned to TxDOT in his current role and looks forward to continuing efforts to improve ENV processes and supporting project implementation.
